text

A Child Is Born, Lully, lullae

A child is born, Lully, lullae A promise sworn, Lully, lullae One God in peasant’s cloth has come To light the path to Heav’n wherefrom. Lully, lully, lullae.

Incarnate flow’r, Lully, lullae Of virgin’s bow’r, Lully, lullae One Christ in verdant grove is grown To seed the soil of Earth full-sewn. Lully, lully, lullae.

Small mystery, Lully, lullae Great ecstasy, Lully, lullae One Spirit wondrous, draw us near To bask in Trinity most dear. Lully, lully, lullae.

The Word most high, Lully, lullae Awaits us nigh, Lully, lullae This little babe in manger wide Will be our light, our love, our guide. Lully, lully, lullae.
