text

The Chestnut Hill Carol text and tune by Dominick DiOrio

Behold our love in fairest form Made whole this day on moon-draped morn! White winter’s song rings rare and warm, Remembrant muse of new babe born. Noel, noé, all lives reform: True bearers of your love adorned.

Behold our light in highest tow’r Made gold this day at sun-bloomed hour! Dark winter’s frost flows forth in show’r, Refreshing seed of nascent flow’r. Noel, noé, all sin devour: True stewards of your light empow’red.

Behold our neighbor meek and prone, Made tall this day through kindness shown! Pale winter’s pallor overthrown, Resplendent promise newly sewn. Noel, noé, all bells intone: True servants of your grace full-grown.

Sing out all people gathered here, Made one this day in fondness near! Warm winter’s hall rings round with cheer, Rejoicing throng ‘cross joyous sphere. Noel, noé, all folk appear: True ‘ttendants of your heart sincere.
