text

A winter birth adorns this day
Original text by the composer.

White as sun, snow-brushed with age,
Scent of lilac, rose, and sage,
A winter guest has made his way.
We sing, we greet: Noel, Noé.

Green as youth, bright-lit the pine,
Taste of honey, fruit, and wine,
A winter feast before us lay.
We sing, we dance: Noel, Noé.

Blue as night, cold-still the time,
Sound of silence, frost, and chime,
A winter prayer we pause to pray.
We sing, we chant: Noel, Noé.

White as morn, gold-brimmed our host,
Sight of newborn, God, and ghost,
A winter birth adorns this day.
We sing with joy: Noel, Noé!
