On the Horizon
Navona Records
Released February 6, 2026
ON THE HORIZON from the Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth Youth Choir is an urgent clarion call against the threat of climate change. This new cantata by composer Melissa Dunphy is scored for adult and children’s choruses, brass quintet, percussion, and piano. The nine-movement work is inspired by young singers’ reflections on climate change and their generation’s uncertain future. The resulting libretto — by turns candid, hopeful, and urgent — appeals for cooperation and responsibility. Recorded live with The Timberdale Brass and pianist Ting Ting Wong, ON THE HORIZON is a call to action from voices of the next century.
No Ordinary Woman
Navona Records
Released January 30, 2026
NO ORDINARY WOMAN gives musical flair to written poetry with exuberance, expression, and lyrical agility. Soprano Katherine Jolly, accompanied by pianist Emily Yap Chua, brings to life a trio of song cycles that center around love. "Nikki’s Love Songs," composed by Dominick DiOrio to poetry by Nikki Giovanni, explores love with vitality, wit, and erotic passion. "Love in the Times of War" with text and music by Carla Lucero tells a moving story of a quest for meaning and love during a brutal war. And in "No Ordinary Woman," composed by Gwyneth Walker to poems by Lucille Clifton, a woman reflects on her own life and finds love within.

Navona Records
Released December 9, 2022

There are generally two ways one can face a crisis. One can give up, or one can persevere and use it to one’s advantage. Choir director Dominick DiOrio definitely chose the latter during the pandemic, turning his reflections and sentiments about it into a profoundly engaging, almost philosophical choral album titled WHAT IS OURS. DiOrio conjures a formidable cross-section of music by a range of contemporary composers that not only reflects the diversity and multiplicity of modern-day America, but also its underbelly of struggle, challenge, and an eventual triumph of humanity.
