Innova produce uno splendido CD di musica corale, in cui figurano raffinate composizioni contemporanee per coro, o per coro ed ensemble strumentali. L’ensemble vocale Notus è strepitoso e meravigliose sono le performance realizzate per questo CD. Tutte le opere qui contenute sono di grande spessore compositivo; il brano The Giver Of Stars del compositore svedese Sandström per coro a cappella è molto suggestivo, così come Stravinsky Refracted di Dominic Diorio, che è anche direttore dell’ensemble, è originalissimo, ricercato e davvero interessante. L’ensemble vocale Notus dimostra una grande precisione esecutiva, un’ottima intonazione ed una sicura padronanza delle difficoltà insite in tutte le composizioni. Ciò rende questa registrazione di grande pregio. Chiude il CD una bellissima esecuzione dei geniali, seppur brevi, Trois Pieces Pour Quatuor A Cordes di Stravinsky, ottimamente interpretati dallo Zorà Quartet.

Innova produces a splendid CD of choral music featuring refined, contemporary compositions for choir or for chorus and instrumental ensembles.  The vocal ensemble, NOTUS, is amazing, and the performances for this CD are wonderful.  All of the works are of great compositional depth; the song The Giver of Stars by Swedish composer Sandström for a cappella chorus is very striking, as is Stravinsky Refracted by Dominick DiOrio, also the director of the ensemble, a work that is very original, refined, and really interesting.  The NOTUS vocal ensemble demonstrates great precision in execution, excellent intonation, and a secure mastery of the difficulties inherent in all of the compositions.  This makes the recording one of high merit.  A beautiful execution of the brilliant, albeit short, Three Pieces for String Quartet by Stravinsky finishes the CD, performed excellently by the Zora String Quartet.
