Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia's 151st season will begin with the hauntingly beautiful Missa dolorosa in E minor by Antonio Caldara, a Baroque composer known for his expressive and emotionally charged work. Sarah Kirkland Snider's Mass for the Endangered is a contemporary masterpiece that combines the traditional structure of a mass, original poetry of Nathaniel Bellows, and a powerful message about the importance of protecting our planet's biodiversity.
